Spartan Challenge Explorer Competition Results

Earlier this month, 4 explorer teams went to the Spartan Challenge Explorer Competition in Porter, Texas. 

The South Central Post, Daniel Munoz, Michell Torres, Gannon Dewveall, and Krysten Batchan, won First Place in Burglary in Progress.

Tania Maldanado placed 2nd in the Marine PT Test in the Female Division.

Westside Explorers at 911 Heroes Run

The Westside Explorer Post participated in the 911 Heroes Run this past weekend. The run raises money for the Travis Manion Foundation . Locally, part of the proceeds also go to Assist the Officer. The Houston 911 Heroes Run is one of the biggest in the country.

August 2016 In-House Competition

The August in-house competition was held this past weekend. Several of our teams competed in two scenarios, Gang Investigation and Accident, for the 4 spots available.

The winners were: Academy Team #1, Westside Team #2, South Central Team #1, Westside Team #1.

A big THANK YOU to the Houston Citizens' Police Academy Alumni Association for providing lunch to all explorers, advisors, actors, and evaluators.

Midwest Post 7277 Getting Kids Ready for Back to School

The Midwest Explorers worked together to donate school supplies for Pilgrim Elementary school. Philanthropy is one of the many activities that explorers are involved with while in the program.

Westside Explorers in the Community

Westside Explorers and officers from the Westside Patrol Station met with a citizen's group to discuss current affairs regarding Police/Citizen interactions.  Approximately 50 persons were in attendance to continue police/community dialogue.

TLEEAA State Explorer Competition Results

This past weekend, 72 teams participated in the State TLEEAA Explorer Competition in Arlington, Texas. HPD was represented by 4 teams. We are proud of all of our teams and how well they represented HPD!

We are especially proud that out of the overall 72 teams who participated in the competition, Westside Post #3203 came out 5th overall!

Dedication of Fallen Officers Memorial Wall at Westside Patrol Station

Recently, a memorial wall for the Westside patrol officers who have been killed in the line of duty was rededicated at the Westside Patrol Station.  

The Westside Explorers Post #3203 served as the Color Guard for the ceremony, which included family members unveiling the photos of their fallen loved ones.

South Central Explorers and Philanthropy


One component of the Explorer program is the idea of volunteering and philanthropy. All posts volunteer in their community learning how involvement helps to improve quality of life for everyone.

The South Central Explorers participated in Operation IMPact, which delivered meals on wheels in the South Central patrol area of Houston recently.
