Westside Explorers Advance to Careers of Service

The Exploring Program is a part of Learning for Life. The program is designed to "help young adults choose a career path within law enforcement and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their communities and the nation."

HPD advisors are proud when our explorers choose to continue on a path of community service.

Alon Freeman has graduated from the Houston Community College Peace Officer course.  He recently completed the application process with the Richmond, Texas Police Department.  He will start with that agency later this year.  Explorer Freeman joined the HPD Explorer Program in September 2015. James “Jimmy” Cianciolo is currently in Phase II of the HPD hiring process.  He will be taking his comprehension test this month. He joined the Post in August 2016 and currently holds the rank of Explorer Sergeant in the Westside Post.

Jojan Ruales will be leaving to the U.S. Army this month for a 3 year active duty enlistment.  Explorer Ruales is an original Explorer of Post 3203 having joined in July 2014.  He has participated at “State” Competition both years the Westside Post attended.

Congratulations to all!

Houston Police South Central Explorers

The South Central Explorers presented the colors at the 1st Annual Badges and Bases Softball Tournament this past Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Collins Park in Spring, Texas.   We only had two practices with one being over the Spring Break holiday.  They had 45 minutes of instruction and 1 hour and 15 minutes of practice time.

Great job, explorers!
